Working with the brain.
Guided by the body.
At Steele Point Wellness, LENS Neurofeedback is individualized to your nervous system.
We start gently, follow your symptoms, and allow your response to guide what comes next.
What is LENS Neurofeedback?
LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) is a gentle, non-invasive form of neurofeedback designed to support the brain's natural ability to self-regulate and adapt.
Your brain is constantly processing information from both your body and the world around you. Experiences such as chronic stress, trauma, illness, injury, concussion, or prolonged periods of overwhelm can influence how efficiently those networks function. Over time, the nervous system may become "stuck" in patterns of protection or dysregulation, making it more difficult to shift, recover, and adapt.
LENS works by providing the brain with very brief feedback based on its own real-time electrical activity. Unlike many forms of neurofeedback, it does not require you to consciously change your brainwaves, complete computer tasks, or actively participate during treatment. The feedback itself lasts only seconds at a time and is designed to support the brain's own ability to reorganize and function more efficiently.
Rather than directing the brain to perform in a particular way, LENS simply provides information. The brain decides what to do with that information, allowing change to occur in a way that is individualized rather than imposed.
Because the brain plays a central role in attention, emotional regulation, sleep, sensory processing, memory, stress response, and overall nervous system function, improvements in regulation may be experienced in many different areas of daily life.
Every person's experience is unique, and responses to LENS vary. Treatment is always individualized and adjusted based on how your nervous system responds.

A Different Approach to Neurofeedback.
At Steele Point Wellness, we don’t believe LENS should look exactly the same for everyone.
Our approach is intentionally gentle, individualized, and responsive. Rather than beginning with a predetermined sequence of applications, we start with BodyLENS, allowing us to introduce LENS conservatively while learning how your nervous system responds.
From there, your response helps guide what comes next.
We pay attention to the whole picture: what you notice during the session, changes in symptoms between sessions, sleep, energy, mood, focus, physical sensations, and overall nervous system regulation. Your feedback is an important part of the process because it helps us understand how your system is responding and determine whether to continue, adjust, slow down, or explore a different application.
We Follow the Person, Not Just the Protocol
LENS is not a one-size-fits-all process. Two people may come in with similar concerns and respond very differently.
That’s why we don’t follow a predetermined course simply because it is the “next step.” Instead, each session builds on what we have learned from the sessions before it.
We start gently. We listen to the body. We follow symptoms and response. And we individualize the process along the way.
Our goal is not to do more, faster. It is to use LENS thoughtfully and intentionally, allowing your nervous system’s response to help guide the course of care.

BodyLENS is a way of delivering LENS Neurofeedback using sensors placed on areas of the body rather than the scalp. While traditional LENS is commonly associated with scalp placements, BodyLENS offers a gentle way to introduce neurofeedback and allows us to better understand how your nervous system responds before deciding what comes next.
At Steele Point Wellness, we often begin with BodyLENS because many of the people we work with come in with nervous systems that have been under stress for a long time. Rather than following the same starting point for everyone, we prefer to begin conservatively and let your response guide the process.
Beginning with the body gives us valuable information. We pay close attention to what you notice during your session, how you feel afterward, and any changes you experience between visits. Your feedback, combined with our clinical observations, helps us better understand how your nervous system is responding and whether it's appropriate to continue with BodyLENS, incorporate scalp placements, or adjust the approach as treatment progresses.
Some people continue with BodyLENS for several sessions, while others gradually incorporate scalp placements earlier in the process. There isn't a standard timeline because every nervous system is different.
Starting with BodyLENS doesn't mean you'll never use scalp placements. It simply allows us to introduce LENS thoughtfully and make decisions based on how your unique nervous system responds. Our approach is guided by your response—not by a predetermined sequence—because we believe the best care comes from listening to the nervous system and allowing treatment to evolve based on what we learn together.

LENS Neurofeedback can be used with children, teens, and adults. Because it works by supporting the brain's natural ability to regulate and adapt, it may be helpful for a wide range of concerns across all stages of life.
Children
Supporting Growing Brains
Children's nervous systems are constantly developing. LENS Neurofeedback may help support regulation, attention, emotional flexibility, and resilience as children navigate school, family life, and developmental challenges.
Common reasons families seek LENS:
Difficulty focusing or staying organized
Emotional reactivity or frequent meltdowns
Anxiety and worries
Sleep difficulties
Sensory sensitivities
Support following concussion or brain injury
Teens
Building Resilience During Times of Change
Adolescence places significant demands on the brain and nervous system. LENS Neurofeedback may help teens improve regulation, focus, emotional balance, and stress recovery during this important stage of development.
Common reasons teens seek LENS:
Academic stress and overwhelm
Anxiety and performance pressure
Mood fluctuations
Difficulty concentrating
Sleep challenges
Sports-related concussion support
Adults
Supporting Brain and Nervous System Health
Many adults seek LENS Neurofeedback when stress, trauma, injury, illness, or life demands have left them feeling stuck, exhausted, or overwhelmed. LENS works to support the brain's ability to function more efficiently and flexibly.
Common reasons adults seek LENS:
Chronic stress and burnout
Anxiety and nervous system dysregulation
Trauma recovery
Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
Sleep concerns
Migraines and headaches
Concussion and post-concussion symptoms support

Most people simply sit comfortably during a LENS Neurofeedback session. There is no need to concentrate, practice a skill, or actively participate in the process.
The feedback signal itself is extremely brief, and many individuals do not notice it occurring at all. Sessions are designed to be simple, comfortable, and non-invasive.
Because every nervous system is unique, experiences can vary from person to person. Some people report feeling relaxed or calm following a session. Others notice improvements in sleep, mental clarity, focus, stress tolerance, or overall well-being over time. Some individuals experience subtle changes that become more apparent as sessions progress.
Our goal is not to create a specific sensation during the session, but rather to support the brain's natural ability to regulate, adapt, and function more efficiently. As the nervous system becomes more flexible, many people notice positive changes in how they think, feel, and respond to daily life.
Individual experiences vary, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.

There are many forms of neurofeedback, and while they share the goal of supporting healthier brain function, the way they work can be quite different.
Traditional Neurofeedback often involves actively training the brain through repeated sessions. Clients may watch a screen, play a game, or complete tasks while their brain activity is monitored in real time. These sessions typically require active participation and can last 30–60 minutes.
LENS Neurofeedback (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) takes a different approach. Rather than requiring the brain to "learn" through repetition, LENS delivers a very brief feedback signal based on the brain's activity. The active LENS neurofeedback portion of each appointment lasts only a few minutes. Your visit also includes check-in, symptom review, individualized adjustments, and recommendations based on your response.
Many people appreciate LENS because it is:
Brief and efficient
Non-invasive
Comfortable and easy to tolerate
Suitable for individuals who may struggle with sustained attention
Designed to support the brain's natural self-regulation and adaptability
While every person's experience is unique, the goal of LENS is to help the nervous system function more efficiently, allowing the brain to do what it was designed to do: adapt, regulate, and respond more effectively to life's demands.
-
When the nervous system becomes more regulated, many people notice changes that extend beyond a single concern.
While every person's experience is different, improved regulation may influence areas such as:
Feeling calmer during stressful situations
Improved focus and mental clarity
Better sleep
Reduced feelings of overwhelm
Improved emotional regulation
Greater resilience and adaptability
Increased cognitive efficiency
A greater sense of balance and well-being
Rather than chasing individual symptoms, we focus on supporting the system that influences them.
That's the philosophy behind everything we do at Steele Point Wellness.
Where Brain and Body Work Together.
